Memories are made of these...plus these

Memory cards are pretty ubiquitous nowadays I think you will agree. Even the techno-heathens among us have digital cameras. And for many, the memory card stays in the camera pretty much all the time, except when you run out of capacity and have to swap another one in.

That noted, USB cables are a fine thing for the job of transferring stuff off your camera, or even these days, your phone. But what if you want to copy the contents of one card to another? Maybe you don't have your USB cable handy.

Ok well of course the memory cards in phones now just redefine the concept of small. Whether its a micro SD card or a Memory Stick M2 (because Sony just has to have its very own) you end up with an eminently losable fingernail size bit of plastic. So given that the slots in the card reader at the front of your PC are so much larger, you'd expect to have to use an adapter wouldn't you? Well yes, however if you have one of those aforementioned Memory Stick M2 cards, you'll get an adaptor for Memory Stick Pro Duo. And will that fit into your card reader? I'm betting it won't.

As you can see in the picture above, I needed an adaptor from Memory Stick Pro Duo to plain old Memory Stick as well. This must be what they call progress. I call it Memory "Schtick".
